About NISI

5 questions
What is NISI, and what does it do for a law firm?

NISI is an agentic firm built around the work of legal practice. It connects correspondence, documents, dates and instructions to each matter, organizes incoming work, and prepares the next steps for counsel.

The Line brings you the decisions and actions that need your attention, with the supporting sources and prepared work in reach. Early access is focused on Alberta family-law practices.

Who is NISI designed for?

NISI is built for solo practitioners and small Alberta family-law firms, initially around 1–10 lawyers. The strongest fit is a busy Microsoft 365 practice handling parenting, support and property matters.

Owners and managing partners choose the workspace; counsel, associates and legal assistants use it to keep preparation and follow-up moving.

How does NISI go beyond asking an AI a question?

Ask NISI is one part of a connected matter workflow. Reception handles incoming work; the matter brief keeps the working position in view; preparation workflows produce material for review; The Line brings the next decision to counsel.

The same file connects the question, its supporting sources and your direction. You can move from understanding an update to preparing the next step without rebuilding the matter’s context each time.

What does “your agentic firm” mean?

NISI organizes assistance around five roles: Reception, Legal Assistant, Associate, Independent Review and Counsel Workflow. Together, they cover intake and filing, matter context, research and preparation, review, and work requiring counsel’s direction.

They work around a shared matter record and the instructions you provide. Counsel leads the work, applies professional judgment and decides the next step.

How does NISI streamline the Family Focused Protocol?

NISI brings correspondence, disclosure, dates and instructions into the matter, prepares the next work and surfaces decisions on The Line. The focus is coordinating preparation and follow-through. Counsel remains responsible for procedural requirements and authorizing external actions. Explore the FFP workflow.

Connected work

8 questions
Does NISI connect to Outlook, SharePoint and OneDrive?

Yes. Microsoft 365 is NISI’s primary connection workflow: Outlook inbox and sent correspondence, Outlook Calendar, and matter documents in SharePoint and OneDrive.

The connected email, files and dates feed the matter record. This lets a changed client instruction sit beside its attachment, the relevant appointment and the work it creates. Your approved accounts and folders define what is brought in.

Do I have to upload every document to NISI?

No. Connected email and existing matter folders are the main intake routes. Direct upload is for a document you want to add yourself.

The Reception drawer lets you add material and follow its reading and filing status. The original document remains available beside the context NISI builds from it.

Does NISI automatically file emails and documents?

Yes. NISI has workflows for placing correspondence on matters and organizing incoming documents. Reception identifies where material belongs and brings placement questions to counsel when direction is needed.

Filing here means organizing your practice’s matter records. Sending correspondence, serving a document and filing it with a court are separate actions.

Can NISI read scanned PDFs?

NISI’s document intake includes text extraction and OCR for scanned PDFs. This makes readable content available to the matter workflow while preserving the original source.

The reading status helps you identify a scan that needs attention, a partly read document or protected material. You can open the original to inspect what the available text does not establish.

Does NISI work with CosmoLex?

NISI’s CosmoLex workflow reads the practice’s matter list so existing matter and client information can contribute to the working record. It is a read-only connection.

CosmoLex remains the source for that practice information. NISI does not write changes back to CosmoLex or provide a two-way accounting workflow through this connection.

Can NISI work with Gmail, Google Drive and Google Calendar?

Gmail, Google Drive and Google Calendar are planned connection options. They are shown in the connector preview and are not yet offered as current direct integrations.

Microsoft 365 is the primary connection workflow for early access. Tell us which Google services your practice uses when requesting access, so that requirement can be part of the conversation.

How do recorded calls and meeting transcripts fit into NISI?

NISI’s intake workflow includes PLAUD recorded calls. A conversation can contribute to matter context alongside correspondence, documents and counsel’s notes.

Direct Microsoft Teams and Zoom integrations are planned, not currently offered by this preview. A transcript saved as a supported matter document can enter through the file or document-intake route; that is different from connecting directly to a meeting service.

What is the difference between connected, received, read and filed?

Connected means NISI has access to an approved source. Received means material has entered intake. Read describes the content extracted or considered. Filed describes where the material has been organized.

These states make the next step clearer. A received PDF may still need reading; a readable email may still need a matter placement. The status helps you see which part of the work has happened.

7 questions
What is a NISI matter brief?

A matter brief is the working account of a file: where it stands, what changed, what is unresolved, who needs to act and which dates or commitments matter. The Legal Assistant role prepares it from the available matter record.

Source links and reading information keep the basis of that account in reach. You can pick up the current position and inspect the material behind it.

What is The Line, and how is it different from Today?

The Line brings you the work that needs your attention: decisions, instructions, questions and prepared material awaiting review. It connects those items to the matter behind them.

Today organizes the day’s commitments and preparation. This week gives you the wider planning view. Together, they help you see what is happening, what is waiting and where your judgment is needed.

How does NISI help with dates and legal deadlines?

NISI brings calendar entries and dates found in the matter record into its deadlines and obligations workflow. The record can show the source, responsible person, preparation and outcome still to be recorded.

Counsel confirms the legal deadline and required act. An appointment, a proposed date and a filing obligation are different things; recording an outcome is a separate step from reaching the date.

Can NISI help me see what a matter is waiting on?

Yes. Matter briefs and waiting views bring outstanding documents, replies, open questions and next actions together. That makes it easier to see what is holding a file up and who needs to act.

The supporting record remains in reach. For example, a promise to send a bank statement stays distinct from receiving and reading the statement itself.

Can I ask NISI questions about a matter or the practice?

Yes. Ask NISI supports questions about a matter, the wider practice and the law. You can ask where a file stands, what changed, what it is waiting on or what needs your decision.

The Research workspace brings matter material and Alberta family-law research into the work. Follow the answer’s sources to inspect the relevant facts and authority.

What kinds of work can I prepare in the Drafting room?

The Drafting room includes preparation workflows for replies, letters, follow-ups, status reports, meeting briefs, internal memoranda, attendance notes, affidavits, applications and disclosure response indexes.

Your instruction and the available matter context give the work its starting point. Prepared material comes back for counsel to review, edit and direct; the work’s status shows where it stands.

How does disclosure lead to prepared work?

A missing document, earlier-period statement or item awaiting review calls for a different next step. The disclosure example turns the finding into an internal follow-up, keeps its sources attached and updates the work when a fictional document arrives. Inspect the disclosure example.

5 questions
What decisions stay with the lawyer?

You provide the instructions, review the work and make the legal decisions. Approvals records responses to questions and proposals; The Line brings the work requiring that attention into view.

Preparing work, reviewing it and authorizing an external action remain distinct steps. Your direction determines what should happen next.

Can I give NISI instructions and correct its understanding?

Yes. Instructions, notes, corrections and approval responses let you direct the matter and address an understanding that needs changing. Your input becomes part of the working record alongside the source material.

Follow the resulting work and its status to see how the instruction has been handled. A saved instruction records your direction; completion is a separate state.

How can I see what supports a finding and what is missing?

NISI’s matter findings can link to supporting correspondence and documents and show the reading scope or status. Open questions and partly read material can remain visible beside the working position.

Open a source to inspect the basis of a finding. The connection between the finding, the material reviewed and the outstanding question helps you decide what needs a closer look.

What control do I have over connected sources and automation?

Settings separates connected accounts and approved files or folders from the work NISI is permitted to perform. The workspace also provides automation settings, corrections and activity history.

These controls let your practice define its working sources and give direction to the workflow. Your matter records and instructions shape how the work is organized.

What should my practice confirm about privacy and data handling?

Review the sources in scope, the people with access, processing providers, data locations, retention and deletion arrangements, and the service terms for your practice.

The privacy, cookies and terms pages linked here cover the GETNISI website. Use the application’s applicable service and processing terms when assessing the live NISI workspace.

5 questions
Can my firm sign in to NISI with Microsoft 365?

NISI’s sign-in experience supports a Microsoft work account. Practice access and permission to connect mail, files or calendar information are separate parts of setup.

The practice’s permitted users and connected-source permissions determine the scope of access. Requesting early access on this website does not create an app account.

What information can NISI access through a connector?

A connector gives NISI access to the source material included in its permissions and configuration, such as a practice mailbox, approved matter folders or calendar information.

Review those permissions before connecting a source. The interactive connector examples on this website use fictional material and do not connect to your accounts.

How are AI providers and client data handling reviewed?

Ask for the processing terms covering your NISI setup, including the providers that receive information, processing locations, retention and permitted use of that information.

Those terms should answer whether provider model training is permitted. Contact Info@Nisilegal.ca for the applicable information; this website does not make a blanket training-use or data-location commitment.

How can our firm assess NISI’s security before onboarding?

Request the current information relevant to your requirements: identity and access, encryption, service providers, retention and deletion, activity records, and incident response.

Any audit or certification should be assessed against its documented scope and date. No security certification is claimed on this website. Direct your firm’s review questions to Info@Nisilegal.ca.

What should I share when requesting access or privacy information?

For an early-access request, include your name, firm, work email, practice location and the systems you use. These details help NISI understand your practice and contact you about access.

Keep client documents, confidential matter details and account credentials out of the request. Privacy and legal enquiries go to NISI Legal Systems Inc. at Info@Nisilegal.ca.

Getting access

4 questions
How can I explore NISI before getting access?

Try the interactive Harbour matter. Compare the position before and after the client’s email, open the revised proposal, give an instruction and inspect the prepared example that follows. Then record your review and follow your direction onto The Line.

The latest bank statement remains outstanding throughout. That lets you see how a changed instruction, prepared work and an unresolved item stay distinct within the same matter.

Does this demonstration use real client information or live AI?

The website uses fictional matters and scripted product demonstrations. The app layouts, source documents, Ask NISI answers and prepared outputs illustrate the workflow without using real client information or a live AI connection.

Demo instructions and review states stay in this page and reset on reload. Nothing is sent, scheduled, filed with a court or saved to the live NISI app.

What happens when I select Get NISI?

Get NISI takes you to the early-access page. Complete the short request, then review and send the prepared email to Info@Nisilegal.ca from your email app.

Preparing or opening the email does not register you automatically. NISI can contact you using the details in your request; this website does not take payment or create an app account.

How are availability, pricing and onboarding confirmed?

Early-access availability, pricing and onboarding are discussed directly with your practice. Share your location, practice area, the tools you use and the work you want NISI to support.

That conversation defines the relevant setup and commercial terms. There is no published subscription price or guaranteed activation date on this website.
